A good church brand must have the integrity to be faithful in the small things. Integrity develops trust with people and results in the growth of the ministry as people give of their resources. Mark Jones is a businessman who owns several businesses and is actively involved in a local church. He shares insights about how churches can build a brand that is trustworthy.
Show Notes:
Communicate well.
You must be careful to communicate at the level of your audience so people will relate to your message.
Pastors have to be intentional about communicating properly to their congregation so things are perceived properly. The church leadership must also be intentional about presenting objectives to the congregation so they can help.
Church leadership must also be careful with small details to earn the trust of the community.
Be trustworthy.
When a church can be trusted, it can be effective in reaching people.
Assume people see what is going on. Always act with integrity. If a church does not have integrity, people can sense something is wrong.
People want to be able to trust the church to be good stewards of their money. Give them a reason to trust you. Don’t just have individual people handling the money; have third parties checking the finances.
Some business people are looking for a trustworthy church where they can be generous. Make your church a place where they feel comfortable doing so.
Understand your visitors.
The biggest thing the church needs is people who love to meet people.
Churches must become good at welcoming new people by understanding their discomfort of attending your church.
People are looking for a community. Help them feel at home–remember their names.
Kids ministry is also one of the main things people look for when searching for a church home. Take the time to really invest in your kid’s ministry.
Be authentic.
Be who God has called you to be as a pastor and as a church. Don’t try to be like someone else; lean into your strengths.
Your church is attractive when it is genuine and not trying to be something else. Focus on God’s unique direction for you.
