Church Brand Guide Podcast James River Church

Steven Records guides us through the working dynamic of his digital marketing team at James River Church and tells us of the tools they use to get things done. We talk about some of the best practices that allow people to engage with the church when promotions are produced. James River Church has events occurring from their college enrollment, large men/women conferences, and individual ministry events.

Help Your Church Grow:

We know you and your church are passionate about reaching people and impacting your city. That’s why we’ve partnered with Church Marketing University to develop the first-ever Church Marketing Strength Assessment.

It’s a 20-question survey that only takes about 4-5 minutes. When you submit it you’ll immediately receive a score and a comprehensive analysis video of the results from the first 400 churches that have already taken the survey nationally. Fascinating results. You’ll get some real and concrete ideas on how you can better communicate – market – to your community that which God is doing at your church.

Show Notes:

Notes:
  • You need to know what is happening in the church as a marketing manager
  • Steven works with creative people to use their designs to feed the social marketing
  • Steven’s team does not request promotions typically but they will create content that is consistent with the voice and the brand of the church
  • Departments can contact the digital marketing team about promotions but Steven’s team determines what is worthy of being promoted
  • Churches need to understand who the audience is and what platform to use to reach them
  • The promotions are carefully targeted to only people who need to see them; not everyone should get every message
  • Steven recommends churches using push notifications with a phone application or WordPress plugin
  • Communicate the right thing to the right audience at the right time in the right way
  • Steven talks about the digital marketing team at James River and how he staffs to take care of the needs
  • Volunteers are used to helping with marketing by curating content, managing bookmarking sites, writing descriptions, and creating simple graphics
  • Steven gives tools that allow him to manage his department
  • We talked about how Steven tries to stay ahead of things by planning and cross-training
  • Stand up meetings that are 10 minutes long each day:
  • What did you work on yesterday? Are there any roadblocks? What are you working on today?
