Do you have people visiting your church but not coming back? On average, churches see 1 out of every 10 visitors come back for a second visit.

The good news is you can get better at getting people to come back!
Imagine if you could keep just 20% of the guests you saw last year. What about if you could keep 40%.

That would change the impact you have in your community and the amount of support your church has with people that are serving and giving.

Tip #1 – It Takes 4 to 6 Weeks
Studies have found that engaging with first-time guests takes about 4 to 6 weeks to get them to the point where they come back. A good follow up strategy connects with them at just the right frequency so they don’t feel overwhelmed, instead they feel like you value them.

You need a strategy that will communicate to first-time guests to provide great follow up for 4 to 6 weeks. Start with more touches then taper it back as you get further away from the initial visit.

Tip #2 – Use Multiple Ways
People communicate in different ways so a good follow-up system will have multiple ways to reach them ranging from a physical gift, email, text message, phone call and even a letter in the mail. Have a media mix in place for the greatest impact as you grab their attention in different ways.

Bonus Tip – Free Gift At Their Convenience
Here is a bonus tip, if you do a first-time guest gift, let them pick it up outside of their first visit. Most people will take you up on the gift on their second visit. The goal is to connect with them. Open it up to let them know if they don’t pick up their gift today then it’s okay to do so on their next visit.

It’s important that we are always adapting and changing to reach people because that is what is important to God. Every person is a soul with an eternal destination and we as The Church need to fight for them.

I hope these ideas spark something for your church!
